We've just watched the Sparks Brothers documentary trailer in the office. It looks terrific! I saw Sparks at the height of their career in about 1974. My memory is of a lot of energy on stag from Russell Mael, the stillness and mustache of Ron Mael and for some reason a Flying V guitar. It was a full house at the Free Trade Hall in Manchester. I'd seen at lot of bands there and it was always exciting arriving in Manchester on the train, a walk along Oxford Road and a pint in The Tommy Ducks.
The trailer is full of energy and excitement, comedy, strangeness and charm. There's a lot of skill in producing a good trailer - and it's a different skill to making the documentary. Let's hope the film lives up to the trailer.
